The Tempered Steel Dude Story

This post is the story on how I get my first mtg deck. Well its a blogpst just for my mtg friends who are actually reading my blog (im surprised) or people who are just plain bored and nothing to do to spend their free time to reading this. XD

I started to play mtg when my high school friends, Tarvin and Ronald started to re-play magic (they used to play but they stop and now they play again) Tarvin's deck was full of cheap to cast creatures but they all became deadly in the end as Tarvin just equip all his canggih artifacts equipments and just beat the shyt out of Ronald's deck.

Since then, i started to have interest in magic and I want my first deck to beat a cheap casting creatures and artifacts BUT different from Tarvin's deck. (typically chinese guy who likes cheap but badass stuffs. XD) So i searched online for some top artifact decks.

The first deck i saw was Tezzeret Control deck. The deck was full with artifacts and all. So i just felt interested with the deck but after calculating the price of the deck, i totally lost interest in the deck already due to his superb expensive deck.

This is the main card in Tezzeret deck. You need 4 of it and 1 cost about rm60. D8

Then the next deck i found was Tempered Steel. I thought the Tezzeret has lots of artifacts but tempered steel numbers of artifacts are just ridiculous. About 80% of the deck is filled with artifacts. Thats not the main reason that caught my eye on this deck. The main reason was because of the ridiculous cheap drop creatures they have in this deck.

From what i saw from Tarvin's deck is the cheapest creature to cast in the deck was 1 to cast. But in tempered steel, there are even creatures who are ZERO to cast!! Thats not even cheap, that was i called FREE! XD

Immediately I was like "Okay, you are going to be my first deck!" And there i started saving up some money and slowly buy the cards and components for the deck. Less than 2 weeks, walah. I got my first mtg deck. XD

The thing about my tempered steel deck is that its a deck on a budget type tempered steel. Since i treat mtg as a side hobby, i dont wanna go all out just for a bunch of cards. So there are some cards which are expensive but going to get rotated already in about 3 months. So, I used a cheap not completed tempered steel for that long 3 months and my tempered steel was nothing compared to other's tempered steel deck.

The thing about tempered steel deck is that its very very popular. Its actually the top 5 strongest deck in mtg competitions. (during the time that i started playing mtg) Since its such a strong deck, there are definately people who are going to make it. Everywhere I go and play magic, i will always saw one or two dudes playing tempered steel.

Even know my tempered steel deck is not completed and not as strong as compared to the others, I still liked the deck. I have fun playing tempered steel deck as its my first ever mtg deck. Of course, i lost alot of matches with that incompleted deck as well. XP

Few months later, a new cycle comes in and most of the important cards in tempered steel are cycled out due to the rotation. (long story short, new thing comes in, the old things goes out) So, tempered steel was not as strong as it used to be since most of the important cards are already gone.

After the first few weeks of the new cycle (innistrad) competitions, tempered steel which is the top 5 strongest deck dropped from top 5 to top 16 decks. Since then people stop playing tempered steel and head on with another strong unbeatable expensive deck. But me? Im still keeping my tempered steel cause its my first deck and im still going to play with it.

There are still people out there on the net making tempered steel work with the new cycle but still, its nothing compared to the previous cycle of tempered steel. I looked up to the net, get some of their ideas and changed my tempered steel and little bit here and there on my own.

Then, i brought my tempered steel deck to friday night magic (a weekly mtg competition thingy) to have some fun with my tempered steel again. Surprisingly, i won 3 out of 4 games. I was surprised and so are the other players who played with me. No one expect a tempered steel to appear in a fnm game. They would expect some top decks from this new cycle to appear but NEVER a tempered steel.

I kept playing tempered steel, get the hang of my new tempered steel deck and add some new knowledge from the pros week by week. After that, most of the fnm games i won and sometimes i even end up being 3rd place or 4th place out of 20+ players there who are competiting in fnm.

Like I said, no one will really expect a tempered steel deck to appear in an fnm game. When i drop my first few cards on the battle field, my opponents reaction always makes me laugh. Is either they will let out a big sigh (the sigh you do when your having stress) or they will go "Owh shyt..". Some even went and say "OMG, this deck again? I hate your deck man!". And me, the owner of the deck will just sit down and laugh at their reactions and enjoy giving them a hard time trying to stop my deck. XD

Sometimes, some players who are looking around saw my tempered steel in action with my opponent will stop and watch my game. Sometimes, I will they them saying "Ohhh, a tempered steel. havent seen one of those a quite already." or even "interesting, a tempered steel user."

Some of the shop owners who organized the fnm games started calling me 'fnm' champ (which i am totally not!!) all thanks to my tempered steel deck. Some players called me 'tempered steel dude' cause i was the only one left around playing tempered steel deck.

I even have a player coming up to me and say "I want to fight your tempered steel." Of course, out of curiosity, I asked why. Then he answered me "Cause your the only one around who is still using tempered steel. And your tempered steel is still a strong deck after all." Although, that line doesnt really mean anything but for some reason, i felt alittle happy. Players actually wanna fight against my tempered steel.

I feel proud that I've made a wise choice choosing tempered steel as my first deck. Of course, i feel happy for my cards as well. Before this, my tempered steel was very close to the word 'crap' but now, my tempered steel deck is pretty much a treat to alot of players since alot of them will never expect one to appear again.

Although now I have some other new decks to play with but no matter, tempered steel will always be my first and favourite deck among all. X)

Pretty funny eh, i can write a such long story just about cards. (got my nerd mode on) To me, its a side hobby that made me happy so i guess its worth to spend some time writting about it. And who knows, in the future when i read back to this post i can read back one of the great memories i have when i was a nerdy teenager. XD

I dont called this blogspot memories beyond for nothing. XP

Janice & Sonia at CHC

Hey guys, did i mention to you guys that Im going to see Janice & Sonia again on sunday? Okay let me repeat myself, yes, I went to see Janice & Sonia again on sunday and its all for FREE~ XD

The event was held at a Church in Subang Jaya called City Harvest Church. Me and my sister woke up early in the morning and drove all the way down to Subang Jaya just for this particular event.

I was very excited cause i cant wait to see them again. As i heard there was another autograph session with them there. If im lucky, I will be meeting them again and get to have another picture with them! 8D That would be amazing..

But im prepared to expect the worst situation that could happened. Like i mention, the event is for FREE.. so there would probably be 200+ people attending for this event. Im pretty sure that would be the amount. And cause of that, the autograph session will definately be cutted short. I really pray that such incident wouldnt happened. DX

When i reached there, the place was already kinda crowed. Around 100+ people are already there waiting in a short line. Me and my sister quickly lined up and wait. But like i say, this event is free and there are definately cheap and desperate people like us wanted to get the best place. Therefore, sure there some badass people trying to find ways to cut line and all.

Luckily for me and my sister we manage to get a pretty good spot. Its not too near but not to far AND not to middle as well. XP

The hall was packed.. like SERIOUSLY pack. I was expecting 200+ people but i believe there are about 400+ people there. DOUBLE the amount that I was expecting. But surprisingly, the hall can fit all of us. XD

The event started with some christian songs. What can i say about Christian song? They sound amazing. If you dont focus are the lyrics and all, the music doesnt sound like a christian song at all. There are accoustic, piano, drum, base and all. Thats one good christian band they have there man. XD

Its pretty awkward for 2 loyal buddhist to appear in a Christian event where they have prays and all. Me and my sister are trying to get involved with the Christian thingy but not too involved to the extend that we forgotten about buddhism. Owh, i was christian for 3 long hours just for Jayesslee. XD

Finally Jayesslee came on to the stage!! The started of with some introduction and some refresh from their last night performance. (Too bad i didnt went.. cause I heard tons of funny stories there. DX)

WOOHOOOOO~ *the crowd goes wild*

And after that, they invited us to be part in their JayessleeTV video. All we have to do is when they say 'Aussie' we say 'OI!!'. Simple as that.. and next thing we know, we are in their video already. XD

They performed two songs. 'Rocketeer' and 'Dare You to Move'. Like always, their live performance is amazing.

After that, they left the stage and we have a lecturer/talk about some christian thingy. Something to do with HOPE and all. They fella explain with his own personal story for the H.O.P and lastly for the E they invited Janice and Sonia out again to explain.

Janice and Sonia sat down and told us their own personal experience story about their mother. The story was touching.. very very touch. They were so young and they went thru so many hard times.. But god has really blessed them right now.. blessed them with such a wonderful life after that. You know what they say, no pain no gain. X)

Here link of a song that they sang about their mother before she died. Its a korean christian song and they sang beautifully. So beautifully that it touched my heart to the extend that I was about to cry. No kidding.. X')

Their would of advice for their fans and all is.. 'Live like theres No Tomorrow'. A really good advice and I will always keep that advice in mind. XP

After the performance and the sharing experience session with Jayesslee, they proceed on with more Christian prayers..

Soon, the event ended and we head out to have the autograph session!! WOOHOO~ XD

Like i said earlier, there are about 500+ people.. So you can roughly guess how packed the line is for the autograph and photgraphing session. The moment i walked out from the hall, there is already a pretty long line waiting outside already. I just carry along with the line.

Later on, when more and more people started to come out from the hall, the line is starting to go out of control. Alot of people are pushing around and cutting lines and all. The security there are having problems controlling the crowds. For that moment, I like pity the securites there. They are not really those big sized, tuxedo wearing, mafia looking security. They are just normal christian students. I went up to one of them and said 'You guys had a long and hard day.. but good job guys.' Yeah, it made me feel like christian that moment.. XD

At first, they allow individual photograph session with them. but due to the amount of people there, they asked just to form a group of 3 people only can take picture with them. I was like.. dammit!! but luckily for me, i found two nice guy who are willing to add me into their team. We collected rm5 and we took a picture with them. We even got a hard copy of it. XD

Taadaaaa~ Will be getting the hardcopy from one of the fellas soon. XP

During the whole show until the autograph session, Gabriel was busy calling and texting me asking me to get him an autograph for them. I cant at first as they only sign their shirt only. But after that, they are selling a random note book for rm10 so u can collect Janice & Sonia's signature. I sacrifice my one and only 1 item signature to get a Janice & Sonia signature for Gabriel.

Yeah, the autograph has his name on it but extra 'le' behind the name. XD

And thats the end of my chase for Janice & Sonia weekend. It was a great an awesome weekend for me. And of course, an amazing experience. This is actually the first time im actually going all out to meet some celebrity that I really really like. I totally went all out for this two girls. That shows how important and how much impact they gave me in my life. X)

After 5 days in Malaysia, Janice and Sonia AKA Jayesslee finally head back..

I hope that they had a great time in Malaysia and I really hope they come back and perform again. If they really come back down, i will surely do the exact same thing again. No matter what. X)

Happiest Man for the Day

The day was 21 October. A friday.. The day where all weekdays ends and the pre-day for weekends. But its also the day where it became the happiest day in my life so far. XP

It the day where Im going to the Curve's Rock Corner to meet Janice & Sonia. Yes, the two beautiful and cute popular youtube singers are coming down to Malaysia to give an autograph session and a concert performance the next day. Yes, im going to meet them. XP

I skipped one hour of STATS class and drag along two of my uni friends who dont really know them along with me to go see them. I tried asking kazillion people on facebook and twitter but their reply was not sure or maybe kind of answers. So yeah, Ashwin and Eugune got dragged along. Ashwin became my photographer for the day and Eugune became my driver. XD

The time that we arrived at the place was a little bit too early.. okay, it was really TOO early. XD The autograph session was 8pm and we arrived at 4.30pm. The first thing i did went i arrive there is buy the Jayesslee T-shirt for rm80. Yes, its extremely expensive just for one plain T-shirt. But with this T-shirt i get to meet them and talked to them. Fair enough. U dont really get to do that if u go for the rm120~rm150 concert! I think..

After that me Ashinw and Eugune went around the curve and Ikea to hang around. Went to Animal safari to look at some fluffy animals, popular bookstore to look at free comic books and game store to look at ppl playing games. XD

After that 6.30pm I immediately call to head back to rock corner just incase the there are some crazy fans (like me) are already stand there waiting for them. When we reach there, there are people who are already waiting there. But just that they are not in line.

Most of them there looked young. Like high school kind of young. So i guess they are kinda shy to stand infront and wait first. Once the line was setted up for the fans to begin lining up, none of them are moving. Ashwin and Eugune are like.. "screw it, Klex go stand in front la!!" They pushed me and walah, I was FIRST in line. XD

Once I stand infront of the line, everyone start to stand along as well. (see what i mean about shyt? XD) Then we waited.. wait wait wait..

There was this dude who came all the way down to the Curve from Cameron Highlands just to meet up with them. I was really impressed and I totally respect that guy. The main reason why I respect him so much is not because he came all the way down from Cameron Highlands, its because his a handicap and he came all the way down by bus and LRT. Let me remind u guys that he came alone!!

I gave him the first line spot since it was such a hard thing for him to come all the way down. I talked to him alittle more and his going back to Cemeron Highlands tonight and come back all the way to KL tomorrow and see their concert. This guy totally earns the first spot and totally earns my respect. This shows how BIG of a fan he is. XP

While waiting, all of us are watching Transformer 3 that is showing in the Rock Corner's again when i first arrive at the Rock Corner at 4.30pm earlier. I saw Ironhide died 4 times, I saw a pink bumblebee appear 4 times, I saw the chinese dude got killed by the transformer bird 4 times, i saw Sam's hot girl friend coming out from the card 3 times, I saw Optimus Prime got mad at the humans 4 times.. All of those in that ONE day. XD

After waiting for 2 long hours at that exact same spot.. everyone started shout all in the sudden. And finally, here comes Janice and Sonia thru the escalator!! 8D XD

There they are~ Janice is excited but not as exicted as Sonia. XD

After Daniel (owh yeah, i forgot to mention the handicap guy's name. XD) is done with his moment with Jayesslee. It was MY TURN~ XD

I went up, introduce myself to them and like always they are like. "Whats your name again?" (Yes, i use the Klex card. XD) After that we had some conversation. I ask them how are they doing in Malaysia and all they are doing fine and they said they like our food!! (1 point to Malaysia~ XD) I shook hands with them and took a picture with them.

And thats how I became happy after so long. XD

Shook hands again, wave bye to them, took my signed t-shirt and ciao-ed. It was seriously one of the happiest day for the whole year. I was so happy that i've forgotten how is like being this excited and happy again since uni is killing inside out. It certainly was a great day.
